Quick Hamburger Onion Soup with Beer

You have probably not made a hamburger onion soup beer recipe before but the following recipe shows you how to make a flavorful onion soup recipe using hamburger meat. This vegetable and onion soup recipe is great if you want to stretch your food dollars and make something flavorful yet economical and easy at the same time.

The following recipe is ideal if you are hungry, want to eat within half an hour and you want an easy onion soup recipe. There are infinite variations to this hamburger onion soup beer recipe. You might want to use flavored tomato sauce, like chipotle and chili tomato sauce or Italian herbs flavored tomato sauce. Feel free to add any other ingredients to this onion soup recipe too. Soy sauce, tomato puree, chili sauce and garlic all work well and you cannot really go wrong with such an easy and versatile onion soup recipe as this one. This soup recipe is a great way to use up anything in the refrigerator which needs using up and adding more macaroni makes it more of an entree than an appetizer. This is a nice, filling dish, which a hungry family will really appreciate.

You can use fresh vegetables, rather than frozen vegetables, if you want to. If so, chop them finely and add those ten minutes before the end of the cooking time. Broccoli, carrot, cabbage, and zucchini are all good choices. You can also switch the macaroni for rice or potatoes. You will need to adjust the cooking time but the end result will still be tasty. If you have made other onion soups in the past and do not like to be tied to a recipe, this onion soup is great because you have complete freedom with what you add to it.

Hamburger Onion Soup with Beer and Macaroni

Ingredients -

1 lb ground beef
15 oz can tomato sauce
4 cups chicken broth
¾ cup elbow macaroni
4 cups water
16 oz frozen mixed vegetables
½ can beer (optional)
1 onion, chopped
2 stalks celery, chopped
2 oz pack dry onion soup mix

Preparation:

Sauté the ground beef over a moderate heat, then drain the fat off.

Put the broth, water, tomato sauce, onion, celery, onion soup mix, macaroni and frozen vegetables into a big pot and bring it to a boil.

Pour in the beef, if you are using it.

Turn the heat down to a simmer and cook until the macaroni is soft.

Add the drained, cooked ground beef and stir well before serving.

Serve with buttered bread for dunking or just as it is.
