Knorr Beef Broth Onion Soup

Knorr is an international brand name and, amongst the most famous Knorr products, are broths, pasta sauces, gravies, broth cubes, and soups. Knorr (pronounced Ka-norr) make very flavorful products and their broth cubes are amongst the best broth cubes you can get. Their slogan is "good food matters," which is a sentiment all food lovers should agree with!

Of course, it is always preferable to make your own beef broth but some people do not get time to do this, which is why a superior product like Knorr beef broth cubes are handy.

This recipe uses either sherry or white wine to add flavor to the French onion soup. The French onion soup cheese in this onion soup recipe is mozzarella with a little grated Asiago or Parmesan on top. Using two different cheeses helps to keep the flavor of the dish interesting. Mozzarella is wonderful at melting and Asiago and Parmesan both have strong and very savory flavors, which contrast well with the sherry and sweet onions.

French Onion Soup Made with Knorr Broth Cubes

Ingredients -

6 onions, thinly sliced
4 cups water
3 tablespoons butter
2 cans beef broth, 13 ¾ oz each
2 Knorr beef broth cubes
6 slices bread, toasted
6 slices mozzarella
6 tablespoons grated Parmesan or Asiago
¼ cup dry sherry or white wine
Salt and black pepper, to taste

Preparation:

Sauté the onions in the butter in a big pot until they are golden brown.

Add the liquids and crumbled cubes.

Simmer, covered, for 30 minutes and add salt and pepper to taste.

Preheat the broiler.

Divide the soup between individual bowls and top each one with a slice of bread, a slice of mozzarella and a tablespoon of grated cheese melts.

Broil until the cheese
